Visual Identity

The Bavarian State Opera is one of the world’s leading opera houses, renowned for its artistic excellence and for bringing together a rich repertoire of opera, ballet and classical music in the heart of Munich.

With Staatsoper.TV, the Bayerische Staatsoper set out to become the video-on-demand destination for opera, ballet and classical music — reaching a younger, more digital and more international audience.

The visual identity pairs the Staatsoper’s historic wordmark with a dynamic italic typeface. Type and logo are held within black frames, raising contrast across image and video content and creating a sharp, distinctive presence. The identity extends across the new digital platform as well as print, flags and merchandise, with a particular focus on motion graphics.
