The Bavarian State Opera is one of the world’s leading opera houses, renowned for its artistic excellence and for bringing together a rich repertoire of opera, ballet and classical music in the heart of Munich.
With Staatsoper.TV, the Bayerische Staatsoper set out to become the video-on-demand destination for opera, ballet and classical music — reaching a younger, more digital and more international audience.
For the platform, a dedicated design system was developed together with technology partner Vialma. All components and the full screen design were built on this foundation, in close and productive collaboration.
The visual identity pairs the Staatsoper’s historic wordmark with a dynamic italic typeface. Type and logo are held within black frames, raising contrast across image and video content and creating a sharp, distinctive presence. The identity extends across the new digital platform as well as print, flags and merchandise, with a particular focus on motion graphics.
